With our waterproofs on and rucksacks packed ready for the challenges and adventures ahead of us we were excited to set off on our journey to Tawd Vale Adventure Centre. We showed great navigation skills, using OS maps and photo maps to follow a route from school to Ruff Wood where we stopped to refuel with our packed lunches and snacks. We carried on our journey following part of the War Horse Trail to Lathom Chapel and then arrived at the camp site.
We worked together to put up tents and made ourselves at home for the night. We enjoyed a feast of tomato pasta, cheesy pasta and hotdogs for our evening meal. We cooked them to perfection on camp stoves…then needed some problem solving skills to figure out how to wash up outdoors!
For our ‘aim’ activities we decorated t-shirts inspired by our adventures so far. We designed wellbeing cards with positive quotes and made friendship bracelets to attach to them.
We woke early to the sound of birds and heavy rain…but the weather didn’t stop us! We enjoyed a breakfast of hearty porridge, croissants and pancakes and made our packed lunches. Great teamwork was shown packing away the tents and kit.
We set off on our wet journey back to school. Amazing friendship was seen as we helped and looked out for each other on our challenging walk. We walked along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, through a Christmas tree farm and along the River Tawd, leaving behind our wellbeing cards for other walkers to find.
We arrived back at school tired and wet but still smiling and proud of all that we’ve achieved. Our friends back at school had hot chocolate and cake ready for us…much needed and well deserved!
Well done everyone, you all did amazing! ê
