Sensory circuits and Sensory diets

Identified students at West Lancashire Community High School access sensory circuits and / or sensory diets devised in conjunction with our Occupational Therapist. These are sensory based circuits or activities that are planned throughout the day with the aim of supporting a student to self-regulate and become calm and ready to learn. These sensory diets are highly personalised and unique to the student based on their own needs and presentation across the school day.

Some sensory circuit and diet activities we do at WLCHS include:

  • Trampette
  • Rolling and/or bouncing on an exercise ball or peanut ball
  • Star jumps
  • Steps
  • Movement breaks
  • Outdoor gym equipment
  • Weighted blankets
  • Adaptive bikes
