This week in our MOVE intervention sessions, we saw some incredible achievements from our pupils. Four students worked towards similar goals and each one demonstrated growing confidence, control and independence in their movement skills.
We enjoyed a number of WOW moments. One pupil achieved an outstanding 45 seconds of independent sitting on a bench, showing improved trunk strength and balanced. Another pupil reached an impressive milestone by standing independently for a full minute. These moments are so important, not just as physical achievements but as steps toward greater autonomy in everyday life.
Throughout the session, we focused on a blend of activities designed to support functional mobility and fine motor development. Pupils engaged in: Fine motor tasks which develop hand strength, coordination and purposeful movement. Bench work which is practising upright sitting and postural control. Sit-to-stand transitions that support strength, balance and safe transfers. Floor work that includes cross‑leg sitting to build stability and flexibility. Receptive play with light toys encouraging engagement, sensory exploration and interaction.
Each of these activities helps our pupils build skills that support their independence, not just during MOVE sessions, but throughout their school day and beyond.
We are incredibly proud of the progress made this week.
