MOVE day is the annual celebration of the incredible progress made by everyone involved in the MOVE programme. It is a chance for the whole school to come together, recognise achievements and showcase how movement, learning and participation can aid young people reach their full potential.
This years spaced-themed celebration transformed our school into interstellar training grounds where our students became astronauts, explorers and galactic adventurers. The day was all about celebrating through a range of space-themed activities.
Students were assigned to planet teams, with each team representing a different planet in our solar system. Throughout the day, teams worked together to earn points and complete challenges, creating plenty of excitement and friendly competition.
For our KS3 and KS4 students, the morning was packed with action as teams rotated through a series of exciting activities. In the hall, students took part in Hungry Hippos, racing to collect space rocks and return them to their team base. The game encouraged reaching, moving, transitioning and working collaboratively while creating lots of laughter and enthusiasm.
Outside in the sensory garden, students tested their skills in a variety of challenges. The Space Throw activity saw teams aiming for planetary targets, developing coordination and accuracy. During Earth Around the Sun, students navigated a dribbling course inspired by the movement of planets around the solar system. Meanwhile, the Balloon Toss challenge encouraged communication, balance and movement as teams worked together to keep their “meteor balloons” afloat.
Throughout the day, every activity was designed to promote and celebrate the core principles of the MOVE Programme. Students practised important functional skills in a motivating and meaningful way, whilst staff celebrated the progress, determination and achievements that have been made throughout the year.
MOVE Day 2026 was a fantastic opportunity to bring together students, staff and the wider school community to celebrate movement and success. Most importantly, it highlighted the amazing progress our students make every day and demonstrated that learning and movement can be both purposeful and fun.
A huge thank you goes to all the staff and students who helped make our MOVE Into Space celebration such a success. It truly was an out-of-this-world day filled with achievement, excitement and plenty of galactic fun!
