End of Week ParentMail 17.09.21

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are now at the end of our second full week of the new academic year, and it has been lovely to see students settling in to learning at West Lancashire Community High School.

As a school we pride ourselves on our values and friendship has certainly been one we have seen in abundance over the last couple of weeks. Students have enjoyed meeting and making new friends and our experienced students have certainly been great in making our new students feel welcomed.

As we have re-opened as a school, you will be aware that students no longer work in bubbles and school life is slowly returning to ‘normal’. This has been great to see, and students have enjoyed learning in all parts of the school. We still have to be mindful that Covid hasn’t gone away and as a school we have had a number of positive cases since our reopening.

As we progress through the weeks and months, we ask parents to continue to follow the guidance of twice weekly testing using the lateral flow tests and if in doubt to book a PCR test before sending children into school.

If your child is identified as a close contact, again the advice is to book a PCR test. Your support with this is greatly appreciated.

Places where you can book a PCR test locally to school are:

Westgate Car Park, Westgate, WN8 8JL
Edge Hill University, Ormskirk, L39 4QP

The link to book a test is https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing/ or alternatively you can phone 119.

In the coming weeks we have events planned to further support and inform our parents. Key Stage 5 will be holding a Transition Coffee Morning which will be focusing on the 16-19 bursary and transition options Post 19, and as a whole school we will be opening our doors for our annual Open Evening.

Date for Diaries
24 September 10:45am – 12:00 noon - Key Stage 5 Transition Coffee Morning
3 November 3:30pm – 6:00pm – Open Evening

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support.
Kindest regards,

Mrs L Holcroft
Assistant Headteacher
