At West Lancashire Community High School we value:
- Democracy
- The Rule of Law
- Individual Liberty
- Mutual Respect and tolerance of others.
We promote British Values through the curriculum by teaching themes of tolerance, mutual respect , discrimination and diversity. We utilise current and historic events and script to support the understanding of when our values have been tested e.g during both world wars.
Further to this we encourage an understanding of how different cultures live around the world through our International Schools award work and opportunities through MFL for students to absorb French language and culture and additional options for learning functional Spanish.
As a core aspect of our curriculum we reinforce personal rights and freedoms , friendship and sharing, the right to vote supported by school and eco council elections. Students produce their own 'Student voice' and 'all about me' profiles and learn about diversity in our community, LGBTQ+, race, disability, equal rights and using online platforms safely supported by a balanced PSHE strand to our curriculum which develops student's understanding of romantic and sexual relationships and the right to say 'no'
